Ventures and phases
A venture is anything a builder undertakes. Each one has a venture.json and moves through five phases. A phase ends when its exit criteria are met, and the owner decides when that is.
| Phase | The question it asks |
|---|---|
| Discovery | Does a real problem exist, and who has it? |
| Validation | Will people adopt this solution and keep using it? |
| Beachhead | Can we win one segment repeatably, at a profitable cost? |
| Scale | How fast can we take the mass market? |
| Platform | What will others build on, so the venture can’t be displaced? |
Each phase is also a route group: the routes the need-now score suggests in that phase.
| Group | The phase asks | Routes |
|---|---|---|
(discovery) | Does a real problem exist, and who has it? | 5 |
(validation) | Will people adopt this solution and keep using it? | 20 |
(beachhead) | Can we win one segment repeatably, at a profitable cost? | 26 |
(scale) | How fast can we take the mass market? | 25 |
(platform) | What will others build on, so the venture can't be displaced? | 23 |
Time to ready
mentura system/time-to-ready run measures how long the venture took to be running, and how long each layer took to hold what the current phase needs.
